One of the biggest commitments of the State
of Mexico Government with the future of its citizens
is to establish mechanisms and programmes
enabling an integrated water resources
management. The use, care and effective
management of water is essential to ensure
the development, sustainability and improved
quality of life for the inhabitants of the state.
Maintaining a harmonious relationship between
development and preservation of our natural
environment is a prerequisite for the design
and implementation of any successful public policy.
The future of this and future generations is linked
to what we do today to protect the environment.
Thus, coordination amongst the various
governmental agencies, civil participation,
forecasting and timely emergency care, as well
as research and investment in water infrastructure
development are all critical to achieving water
security, the core theme of the 24th Annual
Convention of the National Association of Water
and Sanitation Utilities.
The State of Mexico is honoured to host this
important meeting and along with other organising
federal entities, takes the commitment
and responsibility in the rational use, conservation
and management of the vital liquid, thus
contributing to ensuring living conditions
for the inhabitants of this state.
Welcoming national and international visitors
specialised in a key theme as water is an excellent
opportunity to exchange knowledge, progress
and experience in this area, and at the same time,
it allows us to offer the warmth of our land and
people, the development in our cities, our history,
culture and traditions.
Through collaboration and shared responsibility
amongst the public, private and social sectors,
combined with the enthusiasm and determination
of those coming to participate in all activities
complementing the Convention not only guarantee
the success of the event, but we shall take a firm
step in further building the water security
in Mexico.
